Sundowns Ladies gear up for midweek battle against Ma-Indies Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to continue their perfect start to the season as they face Ma-Indies Ladies in their second fixture of the Hollywoodbets Super League at the Groenkloof Tuks Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilians grabbed an opening-day victory against Richmond United thanks to a second-half strike from Boitumelo Rabale.

Last season, Banyana Ba Style dominated this fixture with a 2-1 away victory on the opening day of the season, and a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture. Most notably, Miche Minnies scored in both clashes. The Cape Town-born goal poacher is hoping for more of the same ahead of Wednesday’s battle.

“I will always have fond memories against Ma-Indies Ladies because they were the first team I scored against in the colours of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies. I built on that goal and my confidence grew in leaps and bounds; thus, I am looking forward to playing against them again. As a team, our focus is to attack and defend together. What drives us is the collective spirit and commitment to treating each game seriously, irrespective of the results of the previous seasons,” Minnies stated.

The lethal goal scorer who joined Sundowns Ladies from Vasco Da Gama Ladies was an instant hit at Chloorkop, scoring 22 league goals in her debut campaign. Only Boitumelo Rabale scored more with 24 strikes to her name. One of the most incredible moments in her debut season was scoring four times against First Touch Ladies.

Having enjoyed her first season with Masandawana, Miche is aiming for more in her second, “Of course, I am looking forward to scoring more goals and assisting my teammates on the pitch because teamwork is a recipe for success. Most importantly, I am aiming to work harder to improve as a professional at this illustrious club. The chemistry I have formed with fellow strikers means so much to me.”

Banyana Ba Style has enjoyed this fixture in recent times. Last season, Sundowns Ladies scored 8 times against their opponents and conceded just once. The season before, Sundowns Ladies scored 10 unreplied goals thanks to a 3-0 home victory and a 7-0 away triumph in the reverse meeting.

While Coach Jerry’s troops enjoyed opening day success against Richmond United, Ma-Indies Ladies suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Royal AM.

The fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Ma-Indies Ladies will take place on Wednesday at the Groenkloof Tuks Stadium. The kick-off time for the fixture is 15h00.

Lets go out there and perform to our best abilities. There are no easy teams as everyone is gunning to get good results against us. We just need to remain humble and double our efforts in order to maintain our dominance in the local league as we prepare and build up our momentum towards defending the Hollywoodbets Superleague and rec;aim the COSAFA and CAF. All the best
