Red-hot Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are determined to secure an extraordinary 14th straight win in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they take on the University of Pretoria in Soweto on Saturday.
The Brazilians have been in blistering form over their last 13 games, winning them all. More impressively, Banyana Ba Style struck 13 goals past Thunderbirds Ladies in their most recent outing.
Oratile Mokwena spoke about the mood in camp following one of their biggest results in recent times: “Everyone is feeling excited and energized after that match. We have gained a lot of confidence, especially after scoring such a high number of goals. Our momentum is building nicely and we are eager to keep the winning streak alive as we head into this weekend’s game. The last game showed us what we are capable of and we want to carry that intensity into every match.”
The University of Pretoria currently sits sixth on the league table and Oratile emphasizes that they cannot be taken lightly. “We know that UP is ambitious and they have surprised many competitive teams this season. So, we are going to approach this game fully prepared, expecting them to play an open style as they will want to show that their previous loss to us was just a mistake.”
Khunjulwa Mali also outlined the importance of staying focused and disciplined against Tuks Ladies. “We feel a lot more comfortable and confident, especially considering that we have regained our mojo for scoring goals. However, we know we need to stay alert defensively. Tuks can be unpredictable and we must ensure that we do not become complacent. Every match is a new challenge and we have to approach it with the same intensity and determination that has brought us success so far.”
Khunjulwa also believes the team is well-rested and ready for Saturday’s challenge. “We have had some time to recover and reflect on our previous performances, which has helped us recharge both physically and mentally. This break has allowed us to fine-tune our strategies and focus on what we need to improve. We cannot wait for the game.”
Earlier this season, Sundowns Ladies smashed eight goals past the University of Pretoria in an 8-0 victory, with goals from Nthabiseng Majiya (2X), Lebohang Ramalepe, Asanda Hadebe, Refilwe Tholakele, Karabo Dhlamini, Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Miche Minnies.
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and the University of Pretoria is set to take place at UJ Soweto Stadium on Saturday, October 12, at 11:30 AM.
All the best ladies
