Sundowns Ladies Overcome Fort Hare with Convincing 2–0 Victory

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their impressive run in the Hollywoodbets Super League with a commanding 2–0 win over the University of Fort Hare at Davidson Stadium in Alice on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilians got off to a flying start when Isabella Ludwig opened the scoring in just the 3rd minute, finishing off a swift attacking move to put Banyana Ba Style ahead early.

Banyana Ba Style maintained their dominance throughout the first half, creating several opportunities with their fluid movement and high pressing. Their persistence paid off shortly before the interval when Nonhlanhla Mthandi doubled the lead in the 41st minute, capping off a well-worked passage of play.

Speaking after the match, midfielder Kholosa Biyana reflected on both her personal performance and the team’s collective effort.

“Individually, I played according to what the coach wanted, and I am happy with the way I contributed to the team’s plan. Collectively, we started very well, and that gave us a lot of courage. Our early goal gave us confidence, and from there we kept pushing, pressing, and controlling the tempo. I am happy with the way we combined as a team, created chances, and remained disciplined defensively. It was a very professional performance, and we are determined to build on this momentum as the season continues.”

That result extended Sundowns’ impressive record this season to 14 wins and 2 draws from 18 matches.

The Brazilians’ success this season has been powered by a wealth of goals from across the squad. Boitumelo Rabale leads the scoring charts with 10 goals, while Melinda Kgadiete follows closely with seven. Midfielder Nonhlanhla Mthandi has chipped in with six crucial strikes. Both Nthabiseng Majiya and dynamic forward Isabella Ludwig have found the net five times each, with Refilwe Tholakele adding three. Noxolo Cesane has scored twice, while Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, and Katleho Malebana have each registered once.

Sundowns Ladies next face First Touch FC Ladies on Sunday, 21st of September at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kickoff set for 15h00.
