Sundowns Looking Forward to Highly-Anticipated Amakhosi Clash

Mamelodi Sundowns will be aiming to secure another win for the as they prepare for a DSTV Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs. The Brazilians look to return to Chloorkop with three points from their visit to Amakhosi’s backyard.

Ahead of the game, Head Coach Rulani Mokwena shared the team’s expectations for the upcoming fixture. “Chiefs has great players, and their performances may be much better than their results suggest. If you only look at the score lines you get a wrong impression about them. They are very organised and very clear in their patterns of play; the team has well-drilled schemes and have a good Coach (Arthur Zwane) surrounded by a great technical team.”

Bafana Ba Style go into this weekend’s fixture with fourth-three (43) points at the top of the table and having won all four games they’ve played since the beginning of the year. Kaizer Chiefs sits on twenty-four (24) points and have not walked away with maximum points in the two games they’ve played this year.

Amakhosi have a mixture of Diski players and experienced players that have good strengths in their Squad. Coach Mokwena indicated that some of the Amakhosi players with experience will offer great leadership to the Diski players on the pitch.

“We have to go in there and play the game the way it has to be played. We will play it with a mindset of always trying to do better than the opponent, have better chances, and have an exceptional profile on the pitch. We know that with this game it will be two teams going for the result that’s in their favour and when we play, we plan to put on our very best performance”, said Coach Mokwena when he shared the team’s mindset going into the game.

The Log leaders will be approaching the highly anticipated game with the same mentality as they do for every game they play. With different opinions on the status of the League title, the Masandawana Coach remains consistent with his statement that ‘No league has ever been won in January’ because there’s still a lot of work to play for.

Mamelodi Sundowns will go head-to-head with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday (21 January 2023) at the FNB Stadium. The fixture will kick-off at 20h00.

Coach Rulani Mokwena encourages all the Yellow Nation supporters to come to the stadium to witness Masandawana putting their best performance on the pitch.

If our players go with the same attitude they have exhibited in the previous games then we have a chance of returning home with all 3 points. They should not look at Chiefs recent results they can be very deceiving, they are not a bad team at all it sonly that they are still trying to build a team around youngsters and will pay school fees in the process. However, I still trust that our players are professional enough to go in there and put in a shift which will help us win the game.
