In what could possibly be the biggest night so far this season at the King Zwelithini Stadium, Sundowns will visit Lamontville Golden Arrows in the second leg of their MTN8 semifinal on Sunday afternoon, looking to reach the final for the first time since 2023.
While Sundows carried the greater attacking threat, it is Abafana Bes’thende that hold a slim lead following the goal scored in the South African capital six days ago. This has left Bafana Ba Style with only an opportunity to turn over the scoreline and make history in KwaZulu-Natal.
Forward, Siyanda Ndlovu’s view from the Downs camp is that this fixture will not been easy one. Ndlovu stated that his side anticipates a similar Golden Arrows they met last weekend. Furthermore, he emphasised on how scoring as man goals as possible – just like they did in their mid-week fixture – will be crucial.
“Our mid-week game against Amazulu was not an easy one but we managed to score as many goals as we could. This is the same attitude we will go into our next game with. We need to try and score goals, which will help us overturn the result. I think Arrows are going to try and play with the same structure and we need to be prepared for them,” the Dannhauser-born player said.
Ndlovu concluded by urging the Yellow Nation to come and support them as they look to make history on Sunday. He said: It’s a big game and we are anticipating a tough match. What I can assure the supporters is that we will give it our all to ensure we advance to the next round. We encourage them to come out in numbers and we will do our best to win that game and make them happy.”
Having been unbeaten on the road so far this season, coach Miguel Cardoso’s side will hope that the advantage will pay-off as they look to turn things around in Umlazi. They will seek to advance to the final and to further etch their name on the trophy after a near miss in the 2023/24 season.
