The Brazilians Switch Their Focus to the Nedbank Cup Last Eight

Mamelodi Sundowns have a date with ABC Motsepe outfit, Summerfield Dynamos in the last eight of the Nedbank Cup. Masandawana were bundled out in the semi-final of the competition last season and will be looking to improve on their fortunes in the competition this time around.

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi spoke about the upcoming clash and said “We have profiled the team and we realised that they have former Premier League players in their team, some of them I have worked with like Nene (Jabulani), Zuke (Sandile) and Manzini (Lerato) who spent some time with Royal AM and spent more time at Bloemfontein Celtic. The number of games that they have played in their league is not very helpful as you know they have age restrictions but when it comes to the Nedbank Cup they are bringing a different team with a lot of experienced players. We are confident that we will have to give it our best shot and compete on the day.”

The Clinton Larsen led side has already snatched a place in the National Play-Offs after winning the KwaZulu Natal ABC Motsepe league. They beat GladAfrica Championship side Uthongathi FC in the last thirty-two and scrapped past fellow second division side Black Eagles in the last sixteen and both games they came out victorious with a one-goal win.

In Clinton Larsen, they have a very capable coach who has had a couple of upsets when it comes to Mamelodi Sundowns. “If you remember when he was at Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout Cup, remember the MTN 8 at Lucas Moripe and we are very aware that we are coming up against a very experienced coach and we need to thread very careful”, said Coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

The match takes place at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday and the kick-off will be at 18h00.
