The game was a tough one and we knew it will not be easy- Coach Manqoba Mngqithi

Mamelodi Sundowns secured a win to start off their CAF Champions League campaign away from home. The game saw a goal in each half from Mothobi Mvala and Peter Shalulile to give Masandawana an advantage going into the second leg.

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi spoke about the game and how he saw it and said “The game was a tough one and we knew it would not be easy, we have played against these guys about four times. They are a hard-running team and very strong on set-pieces. They have quality players like Ditshele who is very much involved from the start, the Ivorian striker works very hard and everywhere on the pitch. It was a good game even though the pitch conditions were not good, this team can play and I am sure if the pitch was ok it would have been better.”

The win gives the Brazilians a big chance going into the second leg, a win in January will get Masandawana a step closer to the group stages.

“The return leg will be a tricky one, we will not be with the players as we will give them a Christmas break. We will give them a few days off, then we play Orlando Pirates on the second of January and after that, we play Galaxy. We know it’s not going to be easy and I am optimistic that we will come out on top. The boys understand the value of getting into the group stages and that is what we always play for”, said Coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

I really belive Soumaholo has got what it takes to assist in our Defence, he is underated , he is so unfortunate not to be given an opportunity to play like other players, with no offense, I still cant believe that Onyango, the be center back starts ahead of him. Please Manqoba give a boy a chance to close the gay that is left by Madisha not Onyango. I know coach you such a good listener.
