Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to turn things around and bag all points on offer when they host Soweto-based side, Moroka Swallows in their backyard in a midweek clash at Loftus Versfeld. The Brazilians come from another encounter over the weekend where they went back home with a draw. Speaking to Downs’ defender, Thapelo Morena, he expressed the fatigue that his side is experiencing and how that will not stop them from giving their all in the pitch.
“It has been very hectic. It has also been good to spend a day with our families. It’s a bit of a difficult one but we are professionals. It’s the second day after our previous game and we are on Christmas mode. We are obviously tired of travelling and playing the remaining game,” he said.
“Even though we are tired, the most important thing is the recovery that we do and the time we spend analysing matches which help us to make sure that we deliver outstanding performances in the pitch,” he continued.
With their encounter over the weekend done and dusted, Masandawana will now be set on the game against the Dube Birds and to ensure that they collect maximum points to extend their lead in the top-flight. ‘Matrapa’, as he is affectionately known, said his charges will display an energetic game, regardless of the fatigue, to ensure that they meet their goals for this encounter.
“Preparations have been going well. We now have to shift our focus on our game against Moroka Swallows and make sure that we deliver. It’s going to be an interesting and difficult one, knowing that there are certain elements they apply in their games. The most important aspect for us will be the aggression and energy because both teams just came from a game two days ago but we will make sure we give our best,” stated Morena.
Morena promised the Yellow Nation an entertaining encounter on Wednesday. He further stated that they have done the work to ensure that they win this exciting fixture.
“The supporters should expect a great game because all in all we want to win and we are going to do our level best to be present in our pitch and deliver what we have to deliver. We have done our work to prepare against Moroka Swallows and we know how we can punish them especially their when it comes to their strengths.”
Mamelodi Sundowns will host Moroka Swallows on Wednesday evening at Loftus Verfeld. Kick-off is scheduled for 19H30 live on SuperSport TV.
