Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies registered their first draw of the season as their Hollywoodbets Super League clash against JVW FC ended 1-1 at the UJ Soweto Stadium on Saturday.
Boitumelo Rabale’s first-half goal ensured Banyana Ba Style went into the break ahead, but an early goal in the second half ensured the game finished in a draw in what was an exciting encounter.
Despite not getting the maximum points, Tiisetso Makhubela believes that the match provided valuable learning experiences. She states, “There are a lot of lessons gained from the game and we are determined to analyze our performance thoroughly and work on finishing off our chances in upcoming fixtures. Also, we faced a very experienced side, which will help us understand where we need to improve moving forward.”
Echoing Makhubela’s sentiments, Lebohang Ramalepe added, “It was a good game, we gave our best. It was one of those days that we could not take all three points, but taking one point is better than nothing. All we have to do is to regroup and prepare for our next game. I am happy with our performance and we need to build on the positives we displayed today. We have another game coming up and we cannot wait to bounce back.”
Boitumelo Rabale’s strike takes her tally for the season to eight goals, two ahead of Miche Minnies who has six. Nthabiseng Majiya sits close behind with five goals to her name. Salome Kekana and Andisiwe Mgcoyi each have three goals, while Asanda Hadebe, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Chuene Morifi, Regina Mogolola and Refilwe Tholakele have two apiece.
Overall, Sundowns Ladies have 25 points after the first 10 games, with eight wins and one draw. The Brazilians have also scored 41 goals this season and have conceded just eight times.
Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies is a clash against First Touch FC, which will take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on May 11th at 15:00.
