Top-of-the-Table Clash as Sundowns Ladies Face TS Galaxy Queens

A thrilling encounter is on the cards this Sunday as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies take on TS Galaxy Queens in a top-of-the-table clash at Kanyamazane Stadium. The Brazilians head into the match full of confidence after their dominant 5–1 victory over TUT Ladies in the Tshwane Derby, but they know they will be tested by a TS Galaxy side sitting second on the log and eager to close the gap.

Midfielder Oratile Mokwena believes the team’s recent form has built confidence but insists the focus remains on maintaining consistency.

“The last game gives us confidence and shows that we are moving in the right direction as a team. We played with purpose, intensity, and belief, which is exactly how we want to approach every match. However, TS Galaxy Queens are a powerful team and have shown great consistency throughout the season, so we know this is not going to be an easy game,” she said.

She added, “For us, the key is to stick with the game plan and stay disciplined from start to finish. Away games are always tough because you are outside your comfort zone, but I believe we are ready for the challenge. The mood in the camp is positive, everyone is focused, and we are going there determined to fight for the maximum points.”

Defender Bambanani Mbane echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of focus and execution.

“Yes, we won 5–1 last time, and we are on a good run, but we are now up against another strong team that has also been performing very well. We cannot afford to be complacent or focus too much on our opponents. Our job is to stay true to our style, remain solid at the back, and take our chances when they come,” she stated.

Mbane continued, “Games like this are what bring out the best in us. Every player understands the importance of this match, and small details will make the difference. We are confident but grounded, and we aim to keep building momentum and finish the season strongly.”

Recent meetings between the two sides have produced thrilling contests, reflecting the competitive nature of this rivalry. Last season, Sundowns Ladies triumphed 5–3 away to TS Galaxy Queens, before edging the return fixture 1–0 at home thanks to a strike from Andisiwe Mgcoyi. In 2023, the teams played out a 1–1 draw in Kanyamazane, with Andisiwe Mgcoyi again on the scoresheet for Banyana Ba Style, before she sealed another narrow 1–0 home victory later that season.

The game between Sundowns Ladies and TS Galaxy Queens will take place on Sunday, 5 October, at Kanyamazane Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 15:00.
