We are getting chances but we are not punishing opponents – Coach Manqoba Mngqithi

A Peter Shalulile brace was enough on Wednesday evening to secure the maximum points and stretch the lead at the top. Masandwana have amassed thirty points and have one game to play before reaching half of the season.

Coach Manqoba Mngqithi spoke about the game against Black Leopards and said that ” I think it was a very good game, I believe we had a great first half, we gave them a little bit of space and kept on retreating and we had to fight. We got chances but we could not capitalise on them. We made a great comeback after Mvala was red-carded, I think we made good substitutions as the coaches played a big role. We showed a hunger for success, since at Sundowns we can’t be playing for draws. It was good for the season ahead to know that when we are one man down we can fight and get a result. The subs also came in Gaston, AJ [Andile Jali], Pitso [Mkhulise], Kapinga they came on and did the job”.

Coach Moanqoba Mngqithi also spoke about the red card that Mothobi Mvala received after making a professional foul on Rodney Ramagalela. “He took one for the team, unfortunately, I could not see as I thought he had cover and I was hoping it could be a yellow card. The boy helped us there as you know Ramagalela is very fast and can get space behind the defence and can score”.

“Upfront we can do better as we are getting chances but we are not punishing opponents and for me, that is a worry. The boys fought hard and we can’t be too hard on them as they are one of the highest-scoring teams in the league and we cannot all of a sudden see all the wrong things from them as they are giving a good account for themselves. Peter gave us two goals and we can’t be complaining, Kermit scored last week and I am happy and also the players are slowly coming back to the squad, there is a lot that can be improved and God knows what will happen.” concluded Mngqithi

We wish they can begin to make use of the chances. we are supporters outside but some chances we see are easy to score than to miss. Sometimes the players in the field of play celebrate before the execution like us supporters. Sometimes it’s lack of composure, sometimes it’s failing to take responsibility and is shifted to another who would not be expecting it. It is always nice to see those nice combinations resulting into goals but not good enough when they end up unused. All the draws we experienced its not that we never had chances to to win those games, l don’t know how the players feel when they seat to watch. I will always remember the nail Swallows did to us.
