We Earned The Win – Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane has said that the win away to Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday night to keep Mamelodi Sundowns’ unbeaten run was one that was hard earned against a very trick outfit.

The Brazilians returned home 2-1 victors in what was their second meeting with Phunya Sele Sele in just two weeks having been able to beat them and knock them out of the MTN8 quarterfinals a while back.

“It is always emotional for me and humbling because the Siwelele supporters always call me to sing for me, whether we win or lose. I don’t think you can get this anywhere in the world. Some of the things are more important than winning a match for me,” Mosimane said as he reflected on the outcome.

“They showed who they are as the home team and the first 10 to 15 minutes we were under pressure and couldn’t settle. They play well and move the ball well, it’s almost the same as we play. It was a highly tactical game and I think it was a hard earned win in the end. We tried to secure the three points we had at the time when we were leading 1-0.”

The coach concluded by saying Celtic will be difficult to defeat in their own backyard.

“For me this was a Champions League game. We had to play, but be able to defend. Not because we wanted, but because they were pushing. It’s unbelieve, we want to see how anyone will beat Celtic here,” Mosimane explained.
