Mamelodi Sundowns lock horns this afternoon with Al Ahly SC in the CAF Champions League Group A match 4 of 6.
The Brazilians welcome Egyptian rivals at the FNB Stadium this afternoon in the return leg of the Champions League. The two teams met in Cairo two weeks ago in a tightly contested battle, Bafana Ba Style edged past The Red Devils in a historical winning moment in the second half with a solitary goal from Thapelo Morena. Downs left footer, Lyle Lakay reflected on the brilliance of his team as they prepare for the second round:
“We made history in Cairo by beating Ahly on their home ground for the first time, bearing in mind that they are the current Champions. It would be a great achievement to beat them home and away, but it won’t be easy. We are preparing for this game like any other game, we do our analysis during the week leading up to the game, then we take it from there.”
“Obviously we will take the positives out of the 1st leg, the defense kept a clean sheet, we know what we did correct and there’s certain moments where we also didn’t do what we were supposed to do and we will rectify that. We will try and work more on the positives from the first leg and try to defend more.”
Masandawana are sitting at the top of group A seeding after a successful start to their Championship quest in search of the second star, meanwhile Ahly head into this match in second place, level on four points with third-placed Al-Merrikh, and three points behind Bafana Ba Style.
“We are preparing for this game like any other game, we do our analysis during the week leading up to the game, then we take it from there. It’s always one game at a time but also we try to look ahead especially because we’ve set ourselves a target in the group stages, we are currently on seven points and I think if we reach ten points you will basically then qualify [for the next round] if I’m not mistaken.” Said Lakay.
“Knowing us, as Mamelodi Sundowns team we go out to win each and every game, and this game is no different to any other game and we are going in to win it. We will go out there and give it our all because we want to win the game.”
Our starting line up lacks mobility and creativity. We have two central middle fields who can’t turn and losses ball cheaply. We lack bite and with Mvala you are guaranteed a yellow card.he is reckless and clumsy You can’t field a player bcoz of hight,if hight is important, teams like Mouritious could have won AFCON and Serbia and Russsia won the World Cup.
Today I would like to apologize to the Coaches and say they know what they are doing but as supporters we sometimes cry a lot. Thanks for beating Al Ahly twice thats a great job
