Mamelodi Sundowns is preparing for their opening game in the Nedbank Cup competition against Richards Bay FC on Tuesday night in Pretoria. The Brazilians young star Cassius Mailula previewed the team’s upcoming Ke Yona contest as he will be making his debut in the cup competition as a first team member.
The defending Champions hammered Natal Rich Boys 4-0 last season in the Last 32 as they fought their way to claiming the Nedbank Cup Champions title and lifting the trophy. Bafana Ba style start afresh and are determined to deliver a better performance in their campaign to defend the title. Mailula shared the team’s plan of action going into the clash and said, “it’s not going to be an easy game against Richards Bay, it will be an intense game because they have a team that has strong physical attributes.”
“They will obviously come into this game to win it, but we plan on building on our performance in the competition so we can retain the trophy and keep it in our cabinet. We will make sure that we get to the next stage.”
The Brazilians Academy graduate will partake in the Nedbank Cup Competition for the first time with the senior team and is confident that Masandawana can preserve their Championship status. Mailula mentioned that he looks forward to helping the team reach the finals of the knockout competition and lift the trophy for the first time in his football career.
“I think that as long as we work as a team we can achieve our goal. Our past league fixture was very intense, and I think it prepared us really well for our game against Richards Bay. Since I was able to experience how intense competitions can get, I believe we can win the trophy especially because we are a hard-working team that is under the best guidance.” Said the upcoming Brazilian talent.
The Masandawana Midfielder pleaded with the Yellow Nation to come through at the Loftus Versfeld stadium on Tuesday night to support the team as they kick off the #KeYona competition. He said, “We need the supporters to be present because they are our 12th men, and they always motivate us during the games.”
Bafana Ba Style look to kickstart the competition at home on a good note and take it one game at a time in their journey to defend the silverware.
