Young Brazilians Make a Statement Win on the Road

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski picked up a statement in Rustenburg when they beat the Orbit College FC Reserves 6-1 on Sunday morning at the Olympia Park Stadium.

The first big action came from the visitors when Kutlwano Letlhaku had an opportunity on the 8th minute. Instead, he handed it to Bennet Mokoena who was on inside the box, but he was surrounded by blue jerseys who snatched the ball off his feet.

Three minute later, the hosts had their first chance but Zakhele Shabangu, the Downs goalkeeper bucketed the soft effort.

After searching for an opener, Masandawana broke the deadlock through Lutlhaku. It was Ntokozo Siquba’s cross that found Letlhaku in front of goal who didn’t hesitate to tap it in.

Orbit almost scored from a corner kick after Downs cleared the ball from danger. Shabangu, however, smacked the ball away and Malibongwe Khoza cleared it away.

Letlhaku came close to a brace when he found a rebound and triggered a shot. It however, rattled the crossbar. A minute later, Siyabonga Mabena punished the goalkeeper who came off his line. He put past the keeper to find the far post.

Three minutes later, a third goal came from the visitors and this time around, it was Bennet Mokoena who found the back of the net. Siquba, again, crossed the ball and an alert Mokoena who was in front of goal slotted it in.

Mokoena almost made it four goals when Thato Sibiya delivered it to him in the 18 area, but he slightly missed the target as it tipped the crossbar and went out.

On the 42nd minute, Siquba, again set up a goal for Mokoena. He dinked it over a defender to Mokoena who fired it to the far post.

Sibande took the ball back to Shabangu and the ball was almost intercepted by Orbit, but Shabangu quickly cleared it away.
