Mamelodi Sundowns host their Tshwane rivals SuperSport United tonight at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the second leg of their MTN8 semifinal clash and defender Wayne Arendse has been talking about the desire to reach the final.
The Brazilians lost out to Bidvest Wits three years ago in this very competition and the player says there is a strong eagerness to make up for that this year.
Sundowns managed to score an away goal thanks to Gaston Sirino in the first leg at the beginning of the month in a match that ended 1-1.
“We know what they are about – a really good attack. They have scored in all of their games and that is obviously where their strength is, they are an attacking force,” Arendse said about SuperSport in the build-up to tonight’s clash.
It’s also a third meeting between the two Tshwane rivals in just under two months as Downs opened their Absa Premiership campaign with a solid 2-0 victory over SuperSport at Lucas Moripe Stadium earlier in August.
“We know what we are up against. We are eager to be in a final because our last final was back in 2016 and I think we just need to get back in that space. At Sundowns that is how it’s supposed to be, so the guys are looking forward to that and we can’t wait,” said Arendse.

With the right approach , right attitude and right mindset we will overcome Supersport, this is a cup game by the way, it has never been easy , a typical final . We are persuaded for better things with the determination eluded above, its an issue of Bosso Ke mang mo Tshwane?? Can we really afford to sell our Birth right? not to Super Sport of course , may be some other time. I cant wait to celebrate. All the Best of play.KBY
