Banyana Ba Style Dig Deep to Maintain Perfect Start

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their perfect start to the 2026 Hollywoodbets Super League season with another victory over Diepkloof Ladies at TUT Main Campus Stadium on Friday.

Banyana Ba Style were made to work for their latest three points as Diepkloof put up a determined fight. However, Banyana Ba Style remained patient, composed and committed to the task until they eventually found the breakthrough.

The decisive moment arrived in the 81st minute, when Refilwe Tholakele found the back of the net to give Banyana Ba Style the lead.

It was a goal that proved to be worth its weight in gold, with Tholakele once again demonstrating her importance to the defending Champions. The forward was subsequently named Player of the Match, capping a standout performance with her ninth goal of the season.

The victory means Banyana Ba Style have now won all seven of their league matches this season, maintaining their 100% record while continuing their remarkable defensive run. The Brazilians are yet to concede a league goal this season, once again demonstrating the balance and discipline that has been central to their success.

For Khutso Pila, the result was a reminder that the challenges are becoming greater as Sundowns’ opponents look for ways to contain the champions.

“It was not an easy game. We faced a tough opponent and teams are starting to analyse us and come up with a strategy to stop us. The coaching crew prepares us for that because we know that as the season goes on, it is not going to be so easy. We stayed in the game and, for us, we are thankful that we got the maximum points.”

The same fighting spirit was echoed by Tiisetso Makhubela, who praised the team’s performance despite the difficulty of the contest.

“Our opponents were very tough, but we played very well. We knew it was going to be a difficult game and we had to stay focused and keep working until the end. They came with a lot of intensity and made it difficult for us, but we remained patient and trusted our game plan. We knew that if we continued to work hard and create opportunities, the goal would eventually come.”

The victory was particularly significant given that Diepkloof had already experienced the strength of Banyana Ba Style earlier in the campaign, when Sundowns recorded a commanding 6-0 victory in their previous meeting. Friday’s encounter proved to be a very different contest, with Diepkloof showing greater resistance and making Sundowns work for every opportunity.

Congratulations to Sundowns Ladies for their seventh straight win!
