Brilliant Brazilians brush aside Copperbelt Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their electric start to the season by notching up their 10th win in the Hollywoodbets Super League. This came after they sealed a 2-0 win over Copperbelt Ladies, maintaining their perfect record against the Limpopo-based side.

Lebohang Ramalepe and Nthabiseng Majiya found the net to secure maximum points for Banyana Ba Style.

The team, buoyed by their recent 6-0 victory over First Touch, entered the match brimming with confidence. Ramalepe, echoing her prematch warning against complacency, struck early, scoring within the opening minute.

Sundowns Ladies came close on several occasions before the halftime break. After the restart, the defending Champions doubled their advantage thanks to Majiya, who continued to dazzle in her first season with the Club.

Khunjulwa Mali and Asanda Hadebe both came close to scoring late on as the Tshwane giants secured a dominant 2-0 victory.

Mali, who delivered a masterful performance in midfield yet again, praised the team for their solid result.

“We fought together as a team and the performance was amazing because we got all three points. Our opponents proved tough at times, but the early goal calmed our nerves and enabled us to play our game. Throughout the match, we showed resilience and maintained our focus, which was crucial in securing the victory,” Khunjulwa said.

Kholosa Biyana also praised the determination of the team, saying, “We did well because it was not an easy fixture. The most important thing is consistency and getting the goals when the opportunity comes. I am happy with my performance today and I am looking to build on this performance. We are already looking forward to the next game.”

The Brazilians have now chalked up their 10th win of the campaign after 12 games played, scoring 49 goals and conceding just eight.

Nthabiseng Majiya’s strike means she now joins Miche Minnies on six goals, both two behind Boitumelo Rabale, who still leads the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart with eight goals. Salome Kekana and Andisiwe Mgcoyi each have three goals, while Lebohang Ramalepe, Asanda Hadebe, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Chuene Morifi, Regina Mogolola, Zanele Nhlapho and Refilwe Tholakele have two apiece. Cimone Sauls, Kholosa Biyana, Melinda Kgadiete, Malebogo Shawe, Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo and Khunjulwa Mali have all scored once.

Up next for Sundowns Ladies is a clash against the University of Pretoria on the 25th of May at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, kicking off at 13:00.
