Captain Katlego Malebane on target as South Africa clinch CAF African Schools Football Championship

The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals delivered unbridled excitement on the final day as the four-day competition came to a grand close in Tanzania.

In the Girls’ final, Captain Katlego Malebane opened scoring for South Africa in their clash against Morocco. However, the North Africans equalized and with the game ending 1-1, a penalty shootout was required to decide the winner.

The Mamelodi Sundowns youngster confidently dispatched the first penalty for the COSAFA-based side and the team never looked back after that. In the end, South Africa claimed a 5-4 victory to clinch the top honors.

In the Girls’ third-place play-off, Uganda prevailed over hosts Tanzania with a 1-0 scoreline.

In the Boys’ division final, hosts Tanzania were crowned champions after securing a 1-0 win over Guinea.

Meanwhile, Senegal clinched the bronze medal after registering a 5-3 penalty shootout victory over Benin Republic after the game ended 0-0 after regulation time.

Congratulations to Katlego Malebane and the entire South African team for a job well done!!!
