Mamelodi Sundowns travel to Maritzburg this weekend to take on the “Team of Choice” in matchday six of the DStv Premiership. The Harry Gwala based side have not won a game since the start of the season and are currently rooted on the bottom of the league standings.
Coach Manqoba Mngqithi spoke about the upcoming game and said “That this is one of the tricker assignments that we have to deal with, they are not far off what Cape Town City are like and the worst part is they are not playing very well. They have just changed coaches and we all know how Ernst Middendorp is an astute tactician, who comes with a lot of things in the game. I have a lot of respect for the coach. To me, he is one of the coaches that work very hard”
The last three league clashes between the two sides have seen the Brazilians win two and a draw. With one of the wins coming from the Telkom Knockout Final last December, the first trophy in our treble-winning season.
“It makes it very difficult to know what to expect, the team is not a very bad team, it is the same team that gave everyone trouble last season. Unfortunately, they had a bad start, when you look at their games they have the same squad members, the likes of Rushine De Reuck at the back, Keagan Buchanan who is one of the best passers in the league and has contributed a lot to their goals and not forgetting one of the most underrated strikers Thabiso Kutumela. This makes them a tricky affair and that means we have to dig deeper in order to win. It is very normal in a season where a team in the bottom can trouble a team in the top and we would not want to be part of such a case study. We will give it our best as we know it won’t be easy but we will give it our best”, concluded Coach Maqoba Mngqithi.
The game is on Saturday evening at 20:15 make sure to tune and support the boys!
