Coach Manqoba: We Have a Very Strong Team to Play Against Them

Continuing with their hunt for the Betway Premiership title defence, Mamelodi Sundowns will visit the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon, to do battle seventh-placed Polokwane City.

Masandawana are on an excellent four game winning streak in the league as coach Manqoba Mngqithi continues to guide his side to impressive performances to begin the league season. They will look to pick up another victory in Limpopo to go back to the summit of the table.

The last time the two sides met was early in the season, in a titanic tussle which in the end, was won by the Brazilians. They now meet for the second time this season, the only difference being that it’s a different competition, but still the same tricky Polokwane-based side.

When previewing their second away match in the league, coach Manqoba admitted that his side is weary of the danger Rise and Shine can pose but remains confident of the work they put to ensure that desired results are achieved.

“Polokwane City is a very complicated team, with a lot of man-to-man marking but I think with the time we had to prepare for this match, we have figured out what we need to do on the day. I do believe that we have a very strong team to play against them. We are hoping to come back with the three points,” he said.

“It’s not going to be easy, especially because they are team that works very hard off the ball. They have very influential players, making them a side we should be weary of and what they may bring into the game. we will however, cross that bridge when we get there. One is optimistic that with the group we have, we can aways compete at any given stage with any team in the league,” he continued.

Mamelodi Sundowns will do battle Polokwane City on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 15H00, live on SuperSport TV.

Coach Manqoba good job.trying to give everyone a chance by starting them..and sit..our tried and tested on the bench even when we not having positive outcome you decided to continue with this….WELLDONE…

Some strange decisions by Manqoba that r questionable by signing Kodisang and Johannes then freeze them at home, stupid decisions neh? Then again rushing 2 rotate players with no proven and trusted best 11 is a disaster.Sundowns has quantity instead of quality when it comes 2 playmakers.Zwane’s long-term injury and suspensions 2 Ribeiro indicates we’ve got no extra power in playmaking roles. Kegan was a regular at Supersport why make him a fringe player? Then we’ve got great keeper in Jody bt we r going 4 Onyango why?Anyway we don’t have the divine right 2 win every game bt Sundowns was shaky against Royal AM we display this shawdy performance and Mngqithi has the nerve 2 behave like an analyst than a coach. What makes Mngqithi 2 stare at the game&becomes mute the whole game &give u account of everything happens bt doesn’t shout instructions 2 b carried out.Mngqithi the more is given opportunity 2 lead this club he just becomes another reason management doubts their decision 2 give him coaching responsibilities. Mngqithi is not robust &players don’t respect him bcoz unyabile kakhulu..He’s not new at Sundowns bt you could bet it’s his first season at Sundowns..

I thought people were joking when they say Pirates will win the league this season but now I can see it’s possible, we cannot be using formulas that are not tried and tested, we are our own worst enemy sometimes. Please bring stability into the team, already as fans are divided regarding the current technical team, some of us are running out of words in defending the current technical team if such ammeter decision of changing the entire team can be taken. This is the worst Sundowns performance ever, with no Shots on target😏😏

Thatoh I agree with u on this one how can a big team not have a shot on target 4 the entire game.I thought Mngqithi knew that his job is hanging by the thread,he’s not ready 2 unnecessary rotate Sundowns squad as he’s still unable 2 bring a player from the bench and change the complexion of the game. The only thing heknows is 2 make substitution blunder &makes Sundowns look ordinary.Siyabonga Mabena must b selected with great players like Ribeiro,so we can c the great potential that he is carrying.Mngqithi yeka ukuba sisiyoyo,u r very sweet&weak don’t try 2 appease everyone you’ll lose ur job.

I think our technical team is not astute enough, their inability to alter formations and systems during the game makes them very weak.As a coach he saw things were horrible in the first half yet you sitting down folding arms saying nothing to the players.I was at the stadium is saw every thing, first half the wind was helping us but we didn’t take an advantage and Polokwane City took their advantage in the second half. The other thing i noticed is Riva,I love him but he must do something about his body for it is not in good shape.I also concur with Mfana at team must have a spine you can’t keep making wholesale changes each and every game.Morena was the only player who was trying to propel the team and the Kodisang came in and assisted Morena in driving team forward, other i don’t know what they were doing including the technical team.I can’t win all the games but the performance should always be top,i team like Sundowns with the quality players we have play 93 minutes without a single shoot on target then what did you go To Polokwane for? even Real Madrid lost 4-0 to Barca but they created enough chances too, that’s what we want to see in a game even if the team losses, show us that you are fighting. Both technical team and players were always pleading with us to come in numbers to support the team and we packed Old Peter Mokaba and what did we get in return,a below par performance,we didn’t leave even when the rain was threatening with no protection at the stadium.

The two centre backs at Polokwane City is what we need at Sindowns, that Matuludi can run and can solve our slow pace at the back.
