“It’s been a difficult year for everybody in a sense that it has brought a lot of challenges not just from a football perspective, but even from a societal perspective as we’ve had to deal with a lot as a country. We are in a space where we can give ourselves good plaudits for a particularly good year, even in the space of celebrating our women’s team’’, said Coach Mokwena as he reflected on the year.
The 2021/22 Treble Winning Coach shared that he appreciates that the club was able to celebrate a good quantity of silverware by winning the Nedbank Cup, the league title, and adding the Carling Black Label Cup to their trophy cabinet. He also mentioned celebrating the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team winning two league titles and their incredible performance in the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
“From a footballing perspective, we can celebrate the year as a good one. Congratulations to the club at large and the Masandawana supporters on all the achievements. It’s the festive season and we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New year and request that everyone remains responsible and safe on the roads. We would like to thank the Yellow Nation for their unconditional love and efforts in supporting us”, said Coach Rulani Mokwena.
Coach Mokwena requested for everyone to be responsible and alert during this festive season as it can get difficult with high crime rates and road accidents. He added that he hopes for the team to continue making the Masandawana faithful proud on the pitch because the team is tasked to serve with diligence and appreciation. The Coach further mentioned that the team is grateful to have spent most of the year with the supporters post-Covid19 as they showed up in numbers at the stadiums.
