After enjoying an impressive debut season at Chloorkop, Miche Minnies is already looking forward to the next one with renewed hunger and fire in her belly.
The right-footed attacker who joined Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies from Vasco da Gama Ladies finished the season with an astonishing 23 goals across three competitions as the Tshwane giants retained their Hollywoodbets Super League title superbly and reached the final of both the COSAFA qualifiers and the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Minnies who formed an exciting attacking partnership with Boitumelo Rabale is excited with the way she has fitted into Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s plans.
“It is such a privilege to play for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies because it has allowed me to play with several quality players. Also, I am proud of the valuable insights I have obtained from some of the experienced players in the squad. The chemistry I have formed with fellow strikers in such a short time means so much to me,” Minnies stated.
The 21-year-old found the back of the net on her debut as Sundowns Ladies registered a 2-1 win over Ma-Indies Ladies in the just concluded Hollywoodbets Super League. Miche smashed a brace in the second fixture against Golden Ladies as The Brazilians recorded a comprehensive 11-0 victory.
One of her standout performances of the season came against First Touch Ladies when she smashed all four goals in the dominant 4-0 win over First Touch Ladies in the 10th round of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Minnies who eventually finished the season with 22 league goals, just two behind top-scorer Rabale (24 goals), picked her favorite moments from her first year at the club.
“I have enjoyed several beautiful moments since I joined this illustrious club. Scoring four times in one game and reaching two continental finals are just some of the highlights of my debut season. Although I am happy with the number of goals I scored, contributing to the team’s overall success which included retaining the Hollywoodbets Super League made me excited. It gives me great joy to also assist my teammates because we are built to fight for each other,” Michie added.
On her ambitions for next year, the speedy striker is aiming to continue the momentum, “Next season will be a big one for us because we will be gunning to dominate every competition we participate in. On a personal level, I am aiming to work harder to surpass my debut season performance and to win more titles with this great club. I hope to fight for my place in the team because the level of quality at Sundowns Ladies is very high. I am not resting on my achievements and I am eager to excel whenever I am called upon.”
Kudos to Miche Minnies for a job well done during her first season at Sundowns Ladies!!!
