Coach Themba will be hoping to add further fire to the already dominant Diski Team when they clash against the Richards Bay Reserves, away from home, on Sunday afternoon at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.
Coming from a victory the past week at home, the confidence and unity amongst the teammates has been evident, according to the Masandawana coach, which has helped in preparing for their encounter away from home.
“Training has been good. We have had a few injuries from our previous game but thanks to the medical team, we have managed to get the players back. We have one more training session where we will double check to see if everyone is good to go for Sunday but the players look in shape and even mentality they are in a good space,” Coach Themba said.
With ten league games left in the DStv Diski Challenge, Coach Themba highlighted his side’s main objective for the remainder of the season. With the title chase open, the Diski Team will look to win their remaining clashes, as stated by the coach, but first, they have to come out victorious in Durban, against a competitive Richards Bay side.
“The intention is always to win. We play to win wherever we go. We know what Richards Bay is about. They are a good team with good players and they’ve got the league’s top goal scorer playing for them. Our players are well aware that the Natal Rich Boys are a difficult team. Even in the first game, we went 1-0 and then it was 1-1. It was a tough game but we managed to win it 3-1 and we had the possibilities to make it 4-1. It’s going to be a tough game for sure. Before this run of losses they are having, they were unbeaten for about eight games, so they are a team that knows how to win matches. We have to be at our best to beat them,” he stated.
The Brazilians now have two players in the chase for the golden boot, with Kutlwano Letlhaku joining Keabetswe Ramotsei. When asked how important the newly golden boot chaser is important for the team, Coach Themba confidently gave credence to the entire attacking squad.
“Letlhaku is important for us. All our offensive players are important for us. We are just happy that they are able to share goals. Even now, Siyabonga Mabena is coming with goals and assists. Onele Rulwana is either scoring or assisting. Keabetswe Ramotsei and Letlhaku are the same while Junior Mthembu is making contributions from the bench. The attack has not been changing a lot because their numbers are speaking for them. We are happy and proud with the contributions from the players,” he concluded.
The clash between the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team and Richards Bay is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban. Kick-off is set for 12H00.
