Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team will travel to Polokwane for a festival scheduled for the weekend. They are set to face the Golden Arrows Reserves – as they continue to search for glory in the league – on Sunday morning at the Seshego Stadium.
The results in the past few weeks have been positive, as the young Brazilians have managed to collect maximum points at home and away and are getting back to challenging for the league title.
Having marked the mid-season point, coach Tiro van Rooyen reflected on what is his first season, stating that the boys have done well, considering they have a younger squad this season.
“The most challenging thing about the league this season has been our team ourselves in that we have a very young team this year. They have huge potential and a lot of talent, but some of them are very inexperienced in the Diski level,” he said.
“I couldn’t be happier with how the boys have performed this season. Obviously, I would love the boys to be more consistent, but we know it’s going to take time. Hopefully, we can continue with the momentum – with no pressure. We just need to continue competing with ourselves and try to improve every day and see how far we can get.”
Previewing the game that was initially scheduled to be played in Durban, coach Tiro stated his side anticipates a tough opponent in Golden Arrows. He said it will be a difficult yet exciting encounter.
“Golden Arrows are a very well-coached and exciting team. It’s going to be a very good game. They will have opportunities, and we will have to nullify those threats they are going to give us. We will also have to try creating chances,” the coach stated
“They are a team that’s exciting in the final third and know where to put the ball on the field. It will be one of those games where they will have a big opportunity to have a go at us because they play an attack with so many numbers, and we will have to mitigate their chance creations. With that being said, we are looking forward to the game.”
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will go head-to-head with the Golden Arrows Reserves on Sunday morning at the Seshego Stadium. Kick-off has been set for 10H00, live on SuperSport TV.
