The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will look to maintain a perfect start when they host the Marumo Gallants Reserves on Sunday afternoon at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in another festival.
Masandawana come from the back of a triumph in the campaign opener and will look to have a repeat on Sunday when they go head-to-head against Gallants. Coach David reflected on last weekend’s encounteer, expressing the team’s contentment for the three points.
“I think we had a positive start to the season which is against our norm. it’s very encouraging and we are very happy with the results, the performance and the mentality that comes with the performance. we wanted to make sure that we break the string of struggling to win our first match of the season, which usually puts us a little bit on a backfoot. So, we are very happy about the win,” he stated.
“When you are a big brand, such results are expected from you. Now that we have fulfilled the first expectation, which was to win the first game of the season, it gives us an opportunity to build on it moving forward,” he continued.
Looking ahead of Sunday’s fixture against a Marumo Gallants that just made its return, coach David admitted not to have much information on the team to work with, but went on to confidently praise his side stating that both the bench and the players are of good quality and can produce positive results to maintain a perfect start in the Reserve League.
“So far, so good. We are a team that focuses a lot on our play. We try to improve our play first and foremost before looking at our opponents. In the instance of our opponent this weekend, they probably know more about us than we do them. I however think we have enough quality on the bench and on the pitch, to be able to deal and adjust on certain aspects of the game depending on what the opposition is presenting. So, we will evolve with the game tactically and meet the game’s demands, that’s what football is about,” coach David asserted.
