A game featuring two of the top teams on the DStv Diski Challenge table is coming up when the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team take on the Stellenbosch FC Reserves on Sunday afternoon at the Idas Valley Sports Ground. First placed Bafana Ba Style will head to the city of oaks in high spirits following their victory last weekend in the Tshwane Derby and will be looking to collect all points on offer away from home.
As they gear up for the mouthwatering clash, coach Themba has stated that maintaining the top position is the least of their worries, as they are still working on sharpening their performances, especially after their last game.
“We are not obsessed with positions, we are more obsessed with improving every week. There were many things in the game against SuperSport United that I was not happy about and need improvement. We should not allow being at the top of the log to blind us. We just need to improve game by game,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Diski Team coach stated that his side anticipates a difficult encounter against the young Maroons and backed his team to emerge victorious.
“All the games are tough and I do not expect anything less from Stellenbosch. Everyone wants to beat Mamelodi Sundowns and the players are aware of that. We just need to make sure that we match the fight and intensity that they will bring to us,” he concluded.
Masandawana will welcome back Siyabonga Mabena, Kutlwano Letlhaku, Thabo Nkabinde and Matlhatsi Mampane, who were part of the U20 National Team preliminary squad and were absent from the previous game. They will also be without two key players, Thando Buthelezi and Onele Rulwana, who were involved in two of the three goals that were scored against SuperSport United.
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will go head-to-head with the Stellenbosch FC Reserves on Sunday afternoon at the Idas Valley Sports Ground. Kick-off is scheduled for 12H00.
