During March, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies enjoyed a dominant run of results as the 2024 edition of the Hollywoodbets Super League kicked off. Ahead of the new campaign, the Brazilians freshened up their squad with the signings of Nthabiseng Majiya and Cimone Sauls, both of whom made an immediate impact.
In the season-opening game against Royal AM, Banyana Ba Style secured a convincing 4-0 win, with Boitumelo Rabale scoring twice to maintain her excellent record of scoring in season-openers. She had previously scored against Richmond United and Ma-Indies Ladies in the 2023 and 2022 seasons, respectively. Majiya also made her mark by finding the back of the net in the clash against Royal AM.
The Tshwane giants continued their fine form in the second game with a thrilling 5-3 away victory over TS Galaxy Queens, highlighted by Nthabiseng’s fine brace. Rabale, Regina Mogolola and Chuene Morifi also found the back of the net in the high-scoring encounter at the UJ Soweto Campus Stadium.
Cimone Sauls earned her first start of the season against the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Ladies and made an immediate impact by scoring. Chuene Morifi also added to the scoresheet in the 2-0 win.
Despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to the University of Western Cape (UWC), Sundowns Ladies bounced back in style against Durban Ladies. Salome Kekana and Miche Minnies each scored braces, while Majiya also found the net in the 5-1 victory, concluding the month of March in dominant fashion.
Additionally, the reigning Hollywoodbets Super League champions confirmed the signing of youngster Asanda Hadebe from Sasol League club Sunflower FC.
Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies is a clash against the newly promoted Lindelani Ladies, scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
