Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team is back on the touchline and on the road to meet the Cape Town City Reserves on Sunday morning at the Malta Sports Ground in Cape Town.
The young Brazilians haven’t played a game since the victory against Kaizer Chiefs and will be looking to get back into their winning momentum. Speaking coach David Notoane, he said the preparations have been in good shape, despite having a difficult week.
“It’s been a difficult week in many aspects. Coming off a bi-week and with good momentum has made it hard to get the players to switch on. I, however, think we wrapped up preparations very nicely and we look forward to the match,” he said.
The coach also expressed how excited his charges are for this fixture. Looking at previous fixtures between the two sides, he is certain the return fixture against the Western Cape-based side is going to be another exciting one filled with plenty of goals.
“We have always had good games against Cape Town City and as much as we always come out on top, our games against them have always been exciting, with a lot of goals. They are a team that plays football like us. They will not come to the game with the intention to park the bus, instead, they will give us a very tight game.”
The last time the two sides met, Masandawana were in their backyard and went on to hand City a 5-1 loss. The Pretoria-based side is weary of the wounded Cape Town City side that will be looking to settle a score, and won’t rest on their laurels.
“We are very aware that they will be looking to turn the tables around after we beat them in the first round. It will also be the first time most of our players are playing on an artificial pitch but we have prepared them to play in different conditions, making us more confident to tackle the game. We are excited for this game and we hope we get the three points and continue with our momentum of keeping clean sheets,” the coach concluded.
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will face the Cape Town City Reserves on Sunday morning at the Malta Sports Ground. Kick-off has been scheduled for 10H00.
