Diski Team to Face Polokwane City in Midweek Fixture

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Diski Team are back on the road this week, where they are set to visit the Polokwane City Reserves on Tuesday morning at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium for a midweek fixture.

The young Brazilians come from the back of a narrow victory they needed against a Chippa United side that almost held them to a draw. The 3-2 victory, courtesy of Kutlwano Letlhaku, Bennet Mokoena and Ntokozo Siquba saw coach Tiro’s charges hold on to the second position for another week.

Heading into a new week with another game to play, the Diski Team coach said the victory at home helped them get the best out of the players as they prepared for an unusual schedule this week.

“The training mood after a win is always positive, and it was that case for us going into this week. The boys looked more confident after that win. It was anyone’s game but we emerged victorious. This also helped us when it came to preparing for a midweek match, which we have never played before.

Rise and Shine, on the other hand, lost in their backyard to the Kaizer Chiefs Reserves. Coach Tiro believes that will encourage the Polokwane-based side to fight for a victory so they may return to winning ways.

“Preparations have been going well for us. It has not been easy to prepare for this match given that we only had two days to prepare. In terms of our game with Polokwane City, we anticipate a difficult game. We expect a team that will fight hard to get a favourable result,” he said.

“As we are fighting for the league title, we will also fight hard to ensure we do not drop points. It’s going to be an exciting game.”
