Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Champions League journey continues on Saturday afternoon as they take on Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman in their fifth group game. The Brazilians will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce following their historic back-to-back victories over Al Ahly both home and away.
Midfielder Haashim Domingo has been enjoying a fine campaign in his second season with Downs, featuring in all competitions this season and helping the team. Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Domingo shared his excitement to put on a good display for the supporters:
“The supporters can look forward to an exciting encounter as we know that it won’t be easy but we’ll definitely give it our all. We will try our best to get maximum points.”
Bafana Ba Style recently spent two weeks in nearby Egypt, as they played both away games against Al Merrikh and Al Ahly in Cairo. The final away match of the group stages sees the team from the Pretoria do battle at the Al Hilal Stadium, in Sudan. Domingo expects the conditions to differ from those in Egypt and to make an impact on Saturday:
“It’s definitely going to be a different environment , the conditions are different, so is the opposition. Each opposition brings a different dimension to the game; we just need to find solutions.”
Sundowns have been pace-setters in group A, recording 10 points and keeping 4 four consecutive clean sheets in the games they have played thus far. ‘Hash’ took the time to reflect on what has been a successful campaign thus far, whilst looking ahead at what else the team would like to achieve.”
“So far I think winning home and away against the defending champions has been a great highlight but we know that it’s not the end. We need to keep our feet on the ground and keep going as our heart yearns to go all the way in the tournament and actually win it.”
Mamelodi Sundowns do battle away from home in Sudan as they take on Al Hilal Omdurman in matchday 5 of the CAF Champions League group stage. The action will be broadcast live on SuperSport 209 and the match will kick off at 15H00.
