Brazilians secure top spot in Group C

Mamelodi Sundowns maintained top spot in Group C after securing a point in their CAF Champions League clash against Wydad Casablanca on Saturday night.

Hlompho Kekana, Denis Onyango and Themba Zwane all returned to the Starting XI following some time on the sidelines.

The Brazilians thought they had broken the deadlock inside the first minute of play, but the goal was later disallowed.

Denis Onyango showed his quality and why he is considered the best shot-stopper in Africa as he denied Wydad a clear goal with 5 minutes to go in the first half.

The first half belonged to the Brazilians with Thapelo Morena being denied in the final minute of play, with Ahmed Tagnaouti in the Wydad goal keeping the home side in it.

Coach Pitso, looking to break the stalemate introduced, Lebohang Maboe and Sphelele Mkhulise for Jose Ali Meza and Themba Zwane on the 60 minute mark.

The Brazilians threw everything at the Wydad goal. Gaston Sirino, coming closest, had the home fans gasping as his long range effort narrowly missed the target.

Despite the late surge from the Brazilians, neither team was able to break the deadlock and the game ended 0-0 as Mamelodi Sundowns remain top of Group C.

Good away point, good game plan by the technical team.We mustn’t fear this North African team anymore,we must make them to fear us by attacking them endlessly both home and away. They are only big by names only, not in the field of play.We must win this group. Now let’s turn our focus to Stellenboch game b4 we think about the final. To the technical team and players we believe and trust in you during this hectic December schedule.
