Mamelodi Sundowns have remained in Durban after lifting the Telkom Knockout Cup on Saturday, to face Bidvest Wits in a key battle in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday evening.
Sundowns head into the clash sitting in third place, Gavin Hunt’s men head into the clash in fifth place on the log standings and five points behind Sundowns, although they have played three games less. Both Sundowns and Wits have had to deal with fixture rearrangements because of their busy schedules in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup.
Sundowns will look to add another three points in the bag after claiming a second successive league win when they defeated Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at home on December 11.
Wits’ last league encounter saw them emerge as 1-0 winners away from home against Golden Arrows on December 12, thanks to a solitary Gift Motupa goal.
The last league encounter between these two sides was a 1-1 draw in February, with goals from Phakamani Mahlambi and Gift Motupa seeing the spoils shared on the day.
Downs will go into the tie without Tebogo Langerman, who has reached four yellow cards for the season and will be suspended against the men from Johannesburg in their league clash. Reyaad Pieterse will also miss the clash as he serves the second part of his two-match suspension following a red card against Stellenbosch FC.
The Brazilians take on Bidvest Wits at Moses Mabhiba stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is at 19:30.
Brazilians where is this fellow called Jose Ali Meza?I mean that boy can take on a lot of defenders away from goal&create a lot and feed off other players
That was a wake up call hope next time We will rotate and substitute early not on injury time.
Still have a hope that we will catch Chiefs come May but we nid to dig deep if we want to do that, lastly is Tokelo still unfit even now in halfway season which means he will come next season moss not this time around,Kby forever
I believe we need Laffor as in yesterday and again an Ali Meza to take on opponents. At the back we need to a reinforcement and Madisha’s performance is exactly the same as the season we lost the league to Wits, the boy is not growing at all,in terms of positional play as well as communicating with his defence partner. And truth be told again Affonso may have scored 2 goals in the Telkom Knockout but that boy is doesn’t combine with anyone. But Wits is a great team is not a walk in the park as Potso has aluded some players r not consistentence.Mahlambi is supposed to be a regular but also has his own demons off the field and that is not helping us with anything. But to speak the truth we need both Laffor and Meza to spearhead the attack and they know how to put themselves in dangerous positions 4 the cause of the team.
