Downs Ladies Crowned Champs

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies completed a remarkable season in the SAFA National Women’s League by being crowned Champions.

A double from Thembelihle Masibi and goals from Nonhlanhla Mthandi and Bongiwe Thusi meant they ran out 4 – 1 winners against a stubborn Coal City Wizards away from home.

Downs Ladies were made to work for all three points, with Coal City Wizards coming into the tie well prepared and organized. The weather from the Witbank Rugby Stadium was treacherous and made for tough playing conditions with neither side able to play at a high tempo and play being temporarily paused at times.

Our Ladies Team is now the Champions of the SAFA National Women’s League with 60 points from 20 games. With 2 games left of the season, TUT in the second position, cannot mathematically overtake the Brazilian ladies.
