Downs Open 2025 With Mouthwatering Clash Against Orlando Pirates in the DDC

The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team began their 2025 campaign with a mouthwatering battle against old foes, Orlando Pirates Reserves. Masandawana will be first to play host this season when they face them on Sunday morning at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

The baby Brazilians last met the Buccaneers in February last season in an absorbing contest in which they emerged victorious, following a last-gasp goal that separated the two sides in full-time. Looking at the previous scorelines between the two sides, the meetings are never a walk in the park.

In the last two seasons, the rivalry between these two sides has seen them both take three points in the two encounters set by the league, proving how competitive both are and how exciting the fixtures between the two always are. Of course, Masandawana would like to change the narrative in the 2024/25 season, starting with this first meeting.

Despite the seven-point gap between the Buccaneers and Brazilians, coach David Notoane’s side will not head to this fixture blinded by the standings. The aim is to win this game, so, they will need to apply maximum effort and not focus on other things but winning only.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team will host the Orlando Pirates Reserves on Sunday morning at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 10H00.
