Downs Ready For New Year

Mamelodi Sundowns are ready to begin the new year as they prepare to face AmaZulu FC in the Absa Premiership on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Downs are coming off the back of a successful and busy December schedule which saw them compete in the Absa Premiership, the CAF Champions League, and the Telkom Knockout Final which saw them lift the trophy for the fourth time.

Down’s last league encounter ended with a 1-0 win over Polokwane City at home after late heroics from Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Usuthu overcame Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 in their most recent Absa PSL encounter, with goals from Bongi Ntuli and Butholezwe Ncube helping secure three points.

Sundowns’ last visit to AmaZulu in September 2018 saw a thrilling 3-3 draw, and since then The Brazilians have enjoyed home wins against Usuthu including a 5-0 win (2019 Telkom Knockout) and 1-0 win.

Sundowns will look to begin the new year in a similar to the way they ended off 2019, currently unbeaten in their last 9 games in all competitions, Downs will now look to close the gap to the top of the league table.

Sundowns take on AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, January 4. Kick-off is at 20:15.

We need to start behaving like Liverpool. We have many match winners who haven’t showed up for us. They need to justify salaries

Happy New Year Yellow Nation. I’m still encouraged by the victory in Algeria. We need to bring such character in all the remaining PSL games of the season. We need fluidity and good combinations starting with the Amazulu game.

Let’s win our games not forgetting to rely to other teams like Supersport what’s doing now. We win ours and we move on

Sometimes we can be on the summit of the log very easily if Pitso was not fooling around with inclusion of people like Maboe who last scored for Sundowns on the first game of the season against Supersport and Lebusa has scored more goals better than this fellow.Pitso you can be so annoying sometimes ,what is wrong with Laffor must we always say wrong things to u 2 recognize other players like we did with Jali and Lebusa? You have given enough chance to this boy;give attack minded ppl like Meza&Laffor we r going to the finish line now&we know that u love this boy from the bottom of your heart. But this is football Maboe is not a striker &doesn’t score goals and even last year ,Maboe was a top goalscorer only bcoz he was overused and nothing lethal &special about him.
