Downs sink Enyimba in 2016 CAF CL group stages – Do you remember the game?

Can you remember how we lined up against Nigerian opponents, Enyimba FC in our 2016 CAF Champions League group stage clash? An all-important win meant we went level with Zamalek at the top of the table in our group

With the first half not seeing many chances, The Brazilians took the lead on the 42nd-minute mark as Keagan Dolly’s low cross was not cleared in time and we found the back of the net!

Enyimba managed to equalise just before the hour mark, the goal came courtesy of Moses Ojo who struck the ball from outside the box and managed to beat Sandilands.

The Brazilians were not done just yet, the 78th-minute mark saw us take the lead once again, after deliberation between the ref and the assistant ref on whether the ball had crossed the goal line. The decision was made that Enyimba’s goalkeeper Moses Ocheje had let the ball cross the line.

After taking the lead The Brazilians closed up shop and kept the lead till the last whistle, ensuring a well-deserved victory at home and taking them up the log!
