Sirino Talks Goals And Growth

Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Gaston Sirino feels he is really just living his dream when he looks back at his journey with the club to date.

The attacker arrived at Chloorkop in January 2018 and knew he had to live up to relatively high expectations after coach Pitso Mosimane revealed he’d gone to see him in action in the colours of his Bolivian outfit, Club Bolivar.

Sirino is now closing in on a century of matches for us, and speaks with delight at the fact that he has also added trophies to his personal memories.

“It’s been a special journey winning two Absa Premiership titles and a Telkom Knockout trophy,” the players says, adding “and the truth is I’ve grown a lot in my time with the club. I’ve learnt a lot with the team, like the position I’m currently playing in is where I’m most comfortable and feel the most confident in.”

His form does indeed prove that Sirino is enjoying his position, either on the left or right of a front three or occasionally as one of the centre forwards.

Sirino has scored 13 goals in 33 matches from all competitions – the domestic league and our CAF Champions League campaign which took Sundowns all the way to the quarterfinals against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

What more does Sirino look forward to when he football resumes?

“My goals with the club has stayed the same since I’ve joined – to play at my best each week, help the team where I can, score goals, win trophies and keep growing as a player,” he explains.
