Explosive Eight: Banyana Ba Style Smash Eight Past University of Pretoria

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies showcased their dominance once more as they cruised past the University of Pretoria in the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.

On Saturday, the Brazilians clinched a commanding 8-0 victory over their opponents at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, securing their 11th win of the season.

Nthabiseng Majiya netted a double, while Lebohang Ramalepe, Asanda Hadebe, Refilwe Tholakele, Karabo Dhlamini, Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Miche Minnies all found the back of the net in the scoring extravaganza.

After asserting their dominance in territory and possession for much of the first half, the floodgates opened in the 39th minute thanks to Ramalepe. Three quick-fire goals followed, with Sundowns Ladies ending the half 4 goals ahead, with Majiya securing a brace.

Following the restart, Banyana Ba Style continued their onslaught, with Refilwe Tholakele extending the lead to 5-0. Three quick-fire goals in the dying minutes sealed a resounding 8-0 victory for Masandawana.

Majiya, now with eight goals in her first 10 appearances for Sundowns Ladies, expressed her delight with her brace.

“We knew that Tuks is a team capable of springing big results; hence, we were determined to avoid any surprises. Overall, I am happy with the outcome of the game, and scoring twice was the icing on the cake. The result shows how much what we are doing in training directly translates onto the pitch,” she said.

Nonhlanhla Mthandi commended the team’s attacking intensity, stating, “The result showed how prepared we were for the game and even for the busy season we have. Our opponents tried their best to contain us at the beginning, but we remained focused and executed our strategy effectively. We are ready to build on this momentum and continue our good run of form.”

The victory marked the 11th win of the campaign for the Brazilians after 13 games, with an impressive tally of 57 goals scored and only eight conceded.

Nthabiseng Majiya’s brace means she now joins Boitumelo Rabale on eight goals as both players currently top the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart.
