Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will look to continue their flawless start to the 2025 Hollywoodbets Super League season when they face First Touch Ladies FC on Sunday at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Still unbeaten after seven matches and yet to concede a single goal, Banyana Ba Style enter the clash brimming with confidence, but equally aware of the need to maintain discipline and momentum in what remains the early stretch of the campaign.
Last season, the reigning champions dominated this fixture, claiming a resounding 6–0 victory at home and following it up with a 5–0 win away.
Despite their commanding start to the season, defender Karabo Makhurubetshi insists the team remains grounded and focused on the bigger picture.
“We have had a very positive start, and everyone in camp is happy, but we are staying humble and putting in the hard work at training to keep our momentum going. It is still early days in the league and we know there is a long way to go. We are not getting ahead of ourselves.”
Makhurubetshi also highlighted the team’s outstanding defensive form as a testament to their collective commitment.
“One of our key goals this season has been to protect our goal and keep clean sheets, and we take a lot of pride in that. It is not just the backline—it starts with the forwards pressing high, the midfielders closing down spaces, and the goalkeeper staying sharp. Every player understands their role in that structure. We have gone 7 games with a clean sheet, and that is something we want to build on.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s encounter, she echoed the technical team’s call for consistency in intensity, regardless of the opponent.
“Our coach always emphasizes that we should never drop our intensity, no matter who we are playing against. We treat every game like a final. The moment you relax or underestimate an opponent is when you get punished. So, we make sure to stay switched on from the first whistle to the last. If we keep playing with that same energy and focus, it becomes really difficult for teams to keep up with us.”
