Mamelodi Sundowns has always been on the pinnacle of being trendsetters in South African football and this year Masandawana is celebrating 50 years. As September celebrates culture and heritage, we take a look at the cultural diversity within the camp of the Brazilians.
Masandawana prides itself in making sure that cultural diversity is celebrated, the Brazilians have players from the African continent as well as from South America. It has been a norm for years that Bafana Ba Style shows how ambitious they are by bringing in quality to the club.
There a lot of names that have donned the yellow and blue of the Brazilians, Chancey Gondwe, Raphael Chukwu, Siaka Tiene, Esrom Nyandoro, Jose Torrealba, Jorge Acuna and most recently we have seen players like Alje Schut, Ricardo Nascimento, Gaston Sirino just to mention a few who have travelled all over the world and have made a huge impact at the club.
Football is known as a universal language that is able to unite people all over. We have seen players who barely speak a word of English who go to the far end of the world and they show that as long as you have the ball at your feet anyone will understand.
Mamelodi Sundowns prides themselves as one of the pioneers of cultural diversity in the squad by bringing people from all over the world into one team while still celebrating them.
Happy Heritage day Masandawana!
