In January 2022, Mamelodi Sundowns launched their film concept to dive into the history and untold stories of their former and present footballers in a series of episodes called “Sundowns Stories” on their YouTube Page. Masandawana Midfielder Lehlogonolo Mashigo is the first and only player from the Ladies team featured in the Sundowns Stories series.
Hlogi established herself as a social media celebrity during the COVID-19 pandemic with her dance clips to AmaPiano music, she now has over 400 000 Instagram followers and 342 300 TikTok followers. The midfielder noted how her life has changed after the release of her story on Mamelodi Sundowns TV.
“It has certainly given me more confidence and I’m much more receptive to balancing all my other talents. There are more people that recognise me now, particularly the +30 age group.”
Mashigo also encouraged the South African Youth population to take advantage of the Live Limitless internship program that Masandawana recently launched in June. She said, “This program will induct them into their respectable industries with confidence and experience which is an invaluable position to be in. I want them to watch how I navigate my career and how I carry myself, more imperatively they must watch how I treat people. Everyone you know brings you closer to your next yes.”
The 23-year-old Mamelodi born star also shared her favorite values from the club. “Reality is we are all from different backgrounds [that is why] it’s a special place to find family within a work space regardless of the industry. The family aspect of it all, everyone at Sundowns has yellow blood.”
