The Mamelodi Sundowns medical team has confirmed the unavailability of four players as we host Cape Town City tonight.
Ricardo Nascimento is still recovering from a groin injury and is yet to make an appearance for Downs so far this season, while Anthony Laffor is also still recovering from a knee injury.
There is another pair that is still working their way back to full fitness and will unfortunately not be part of the Absa Premiership clash against coach Benni McCarthy’s outfit at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Mauricio Affonso still awaits his debut in Sundowns colours. The Uruguayan picked up an ankle injury during pre-season and is still in the recovery ward.
Phakamani Mahlambi joined him there recently as he, too, looks to bounce back from an ankle strain. Apart from those players mentioned, coach Pitso Mosimane can select from the available group of players as he looks to pick up maximum points against the Citizens.
The last time the two sides met in Tshwane six months ago, the Brazilians were 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Lebo Maboe, as well as the injured pair of Laffor and Mahlambi.
Downs will look to maintain a winning streak at the Lucas Moripe Stadium having come from behind to beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1 to progress to the semifinals of the MTN8 over the weekend. A victory tonight will take Sundowns to the top of the Absa Premiership table and keep their unbeaten run in the league so far intact.
Starting line up please
Enough is enough. City must learn to respect us from tonight
Villa is starting again?
Can someone who will answer me correctly, what really happened to the strikers we bought if we still striking with Vila and Maboe whom according to me are not giving us any result we are looking for especial Maboe, that guy is killing us big time I wonder why our coach doesn’t see that even last season he was doing the same without producing.I don’t think all of those strikers are injured.
We drew games we should have won hope next time Tade will play,Kby forever
Not only Tade, if I may ask, where is Laffor? That guy he can make things happen, but Pitso don’t blv in him.
Maboe he’s running like headless chicken he can’t even pass acturately and the whole team second half was dead.
Yes Kunene ,Dion&Pfuluwani Cape Twn Cty always gives us problems like 4 example last week they lost by 2 goals against Polokwane at home but all of a sudden they have a great performance against us,I tell u the truth this is our official hoodoo. That may be said Pitso is so obsessed about Maboe&Vilalazi that he does not think that there’s some one who can do a better job than them.Favouritism is a syndrome to Pitso, last he has been saying ppl must not sulk at Sundowns but he is the one killing the moral of other players.Mkhulise was on the bench when Maboewas performing like that last week he completed the game &even yesterday, how do you motivate the whole team when you r doing that as a coach? As for this false striker thing with players like Laffor,Meza &Tade at our disposal it’s very annoying.I don’t say don’t fielding Maboe&Vilalazi but when they’re wasteful and out of form like yesterday they must be substituted too.And Pitso must stop these lies that he is giving equal opportunities to all the players when the opposite is happening.
Good morning masandawana true Pitso must try to be patient with every player and give them fair chance to showcase their talents because they were not free agent Brockie mentioned that he was not injured but how come he is in the injured list
Masandawana do you want results or players getting a chance to play ?
Are we getting results? Last week we drew with Chippa simple because Villa could not score. We dropping points unnecessary.
We want results, but Pitso must put Maboe aside otherwise the team will play for draws or lose oneway
