Mamelodi Sundowns are gearing up to host Chippa United FC for a midweek clash on Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld.
Masandawana come from the back of a 0-2 victory over Cape Town City at the weekend, all thanks to Tashreeq Mathews and Iqraam Rayners’ goals. Looking ahead to the clash in their backyard, the forward who is currently the second highest goalscorer in the Betway Premiership, Rayners, stated that the mood has been good and the victory over the weekend has boosted their morale.
“The mood has always been good, especially at camp, between the players and the technical team. I would like to believe that we are in a good space after last weekend’s game,” he said.
The Chilli Boys are currently 8th on the log, looking to solidify their place in the top eight, while Bafana Ba Style are nearing their chance to lift their eighth consecutive league championship. With both sides meeting for the first time this season, it will be a difficult encounter, according to Rayners.
“It’s always difficult to play teams like Chippa because they are fighting for their lives to ensure they make it to the top eight, and it will be important to get maximum points.”
“It’s always going to be good for a team like Chippa United to play against a team like Mamelodi Sundowns. They are going to make things hard for us, but we just need to take the game to the next level and get the maximum points.
