Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies keep on climbing higher in the Hollywoodbets Super League and will be looking to push on after thrashing Richmond Ladies 5-1 this last weekend in Pretoria.
The Brazilians continued preparations for the upcoming Women’s Super League campaign with Ma-Indies Ladies as their next opponents. Despite the positive result last weekend, Coach Jerry Tshabalala says that their opponents won’t be a walk in the park.
“It’s going to be one of the toughest games we’ve ever played. We’re playing against a very consistent team, the last three games that they’ve played they collected three points. They’ve been consistent [with] not losing games, they’ve picked up at the right time [and it] seems like they are one of the teams that did not get distracted by the lockdown.” said Coach Jerry Tshabalala.
Masandawana have not lost a single game this season, having played a total of eleven league matches, they’ve won ten and drawn once against their closest rivals. Meanwhile, their weekend opponents are unpredictable and not to be taken lightly, with Ma-Indies drew four of their last five games and lost one match.
“We are very fortunate that we’ve managed to win the last three games. We’ve been trying to rotate the team just to keep the girls’ legs fresh. This weekend’s game is gonna be a tough one but I am happy that we are playing at home and we will use that home advantage.”
Masandawana are also looking forward to welcoming back some of their key players that have been sidelined due to injuries.
“I am happy that the knocks that the players that got knocks like Thalea Smidt and Bongiwe Thusi have recovered [from knocks]. I am hoping that Andisiwe Mngcoyi and Lerato Kgasago will be ready for the match. We’ve got depth in the team, we are looking forward to this encounter.”
“We are not gonna worry much about Ma-Indies’ strength, we just need to focus more on our strengths and focus more on what we can do on the day of the game.” Coach Jerry concluded.
Mamemlodi Sundowns Ladies will play their league game encounter against Ma-Indies Ladies on Saturday, 21 August at Groenkloof Stadium. Kick-off is 15h00.
