Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on TS Galaxy Queens in the Hollywoodbets Super League on Sunday, with Banyana Ba Style determined to collect maximum points and maintain their impressive defensive record.
The Brazilians head into the encounter following a goalless draw against the University of the Western Cape (UWC), a result that brought their winning run to an end but extended their remarkable defensive streak to 11 consecutive clean sheets.
Despite being unable to find the breakthrough in their previous outing, the Brazilians remain unbeaten in the 2026 campaign, having recorded 10 wins and one draw from their opening 11 matches, with 38 goals scored and none conceded.
Munashe Mugwara acknowledged that while the team would have preferred to secure all three points against UWC, the result has provided an opportunity to learn and refocus ahead of their next challenge.
“We understand that there are going to be challenging moments during the season, but what matters is how we respond and prepare ourselves for the next game. We have put the UWC match behind us and going into the TS Galaxy game, we are going to push for the win. We know what we want to achieve and everyone in the team is looking forward to the challenge. We want to go out there, give our best and make sure that we come away with the three points.”
While Sundowns Ladies will be eager to rediscover their scoring touch, their defensive organisation has continued to provide a strong foundation for their impressive start to the campaign.
The Brazilians have kept opponents from finding the back of the net in each of their opening 11 league matches, a run that reflects the collective discipline and understanding within the team. Mugwara highlighted the importance of maintaining those standards, noting that the players have made defensive responsibility an integral part of their approach.
“The defensive organisation has been really good. As much as we push to win every game, we also push not to concede, and it really has become a thing for every game that we do not concede. Everyone understands their role, and we work together to make sure that we are organised and that we help each other whenever we are under pressure. It is something that we have been working on as a team, and you can see the results in the games that we have played.”
Sundowns Ladies will also draw confidence from their earlier meeting with TS Galaxy Queens this season, when Banyana Ba Style secured a 2-0 victory, with Isabella Ludwig and Ronnel Donnelly finding the back of the net. The Brazilians will be hoping to replicate that performance as they return to action, with another opportunity to strengthen their position in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Mugwara also called on supporters to come out and rally behind the team, highlighting the motivation their presence provides as Sundowns look to secure another three points.
“Come support please, we would love to see you guys there. We know that the supporters are always behind us and having them come out to watch and encourage us means a lot to the team. It gives us extra motivation when we are on the field, especially during those difficult moments when we need that push to keep going. We are looking forward to seeing them at the stadium, and we want them to come and enjoy the game with us.”
The game between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and TS Galaxy Queens will take place at the Wits Football Main Stadium on Sunday, 25 October, with kick-off set for 15:00.
