Khunjulwa Mali’s strike clinches victory in the Tshwane Derby

Sundowns Ladies made a winning return to the Hollywoodbets Super League as they registered a 1-0 victory over TUT Ladies Football Club in the highly anticipated Tshwane Derby on Thursday.

A first-half goal from Khunjulwa Mali was enough to hand the two-time continental champions a well-deserved victory at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The victory was Banyana Ba Style’s 22nd of the season, and the solitary goal was their 85th of the campaign.

Having recently clinched the CAF Women’s Champions League, the Brazilians knew a victory over TUT Ladies would edge them closer to their second treble of titles in three years, having also clinched the COSAFA qualifiers title a few months ago.
Despite having a very short turnaround time to prepare for the game, Sundowns Ladies showcased their class and were rewarded with Khunjulwa Mali’s strike, her first of the season.

“I am very happy with my first goal of the season. It feels good to be back home and adjusting well to the playing conditions. We were already used to playing late games during the CAF competition, so we had to adjust ourselves as quickly as possible. The game was far from easy, but we managed to get maximum points,” Mali stated.

Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC is a clash against Thunderbirds Ladies. The game will take place this Sunday and the kickoff time is 15h00.
