The Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Team will be embarking on a journey to Gqeberha this weekend to compete against Chippa United in what will be their last game of the year. Masandawana will want to complete the year on a good note by keeping their unbeaten run and remaining top of the tally.
“The players are looking confident. We had a lot of challenges this week where half of the team had exams. We have had some days where we didn’t have the full team but fortunately the players understand the direction that we are taking, so everyone is on the same page,” Coach Themba Badela said, while touching on the readiness of his troops.
Masandawana have been playing the last few games at home and will be travelling for an away game, which they hope will end positively, with them returning home with maximum points. Coach Themba said the mistakes his side made in the last away game which ended in a 2-2 draw, have been worked on and will be seen in the next encounter.
“We have to learn from our mistakes and that’s the beauty of football. In our previous away trip, we conceded two early goals, so we have to ensure that we have a better start than we did previously. We have to improve our form outside the province where we have to get maximum points,” he said.
In contrast, the opposition lost 4-0 in their previous game, which is their biggest loss so far. Coach Themba stated that the opponent will present a fight in the pitch but Bafana Ba Style are well prepared and confident.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game, so we have to prepare ourselves. They are a very good team and they play good football. The players have to know that we have to fight on the pitch and we can’t share possession with our opponents. We have seen a few of their weaknesses and we have to exploit them. The game won’t be easy because even the crowd is very hostile when you go there. They also do well at home and have a crowd that’s behind them but we are very confident heading to the match,” The Diski Team coach concluded.
The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski Team do face the Chippa United Reserves on Saturday morning at the Wolfson Stadium. Kick-off is at 10H00.
