Following negotiations between Mamelodi Sundowns and Head Coach, Rulani Mokwena, the Club is proud to announce that they have agreed on a 4-year contract extension that will see Coach Rulani remain at Chloorkop until 2027.
Coach Rulani, who was appointed as the Head Coach in October has had a very solid and impressive run which includes being undefeated in the CAF Champions League and DStv Premiership since he took over the reins.
Commenting about the contract extension, the Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns, Tlhopie Motsepe, said: “We are excited that we have finalized the contract negotiations and look forward to more success and wonderful memories with the Yellow Nation, along with four more years of hard work and dedication from our Head Coach and the Technical Team.
“The Club strongly believes that the talented Coach will take Mamelodi Sundowns to the heights that it deserves to be; but the Chairman highlighted the important role that the supporters will play in the season ahead. “ With our supporters cheering us on throughout our big games- there’s every chance that Coach Rulani and his technical team will achieve our ambitious goals for the football club.”
Testament to Mamelodi Sundowns’ investment and belief in the youth – Academy players and its Coaching staff, is that Coach Rulani started his journey at Sundowns as a Youth Development Coach.
Reflecting on his contract extension, the visibly appreciative and driven Coach Rulani Mokwena said: “I think that there is still more to be done and achieved, because of those sentiments, I felt the need to put myself at service for this incredible institution once more – to assist in achieving more success and winning more trophies. The love and warmth I receive from the supporters fills me with pride. As a servant of this football club, tasked with a big responsibility of leading this institution and considering that there is many of the The Yellow Nation that serve the Football Club selflessly, in this moment where I feel the privilege, I thank the supporters for making me feel appreciated.”
The team will return for pre-season on the 28th of June 2023 to prepare for the upcoming season.
ENDS
Thanks for the extension even though We are very much angry at you for wanting to discard or fire Khompela and Manqoba.
You even forgot that it was Khompela who recruited you many years ago to Platinum Stars when nobody was taken care of you,its strange neh.
Guys or Dawana faithfuls PLS let’s campaign for Mayele to be signed I may be sound like a crazy guy but oneday you’ll take notice of us the boy is so good to even play here in Africa and if I have powers to talk to our working hard Chairman I would go and plead to him till my tears went dry,I’ve been a Dawana since 1986 and I know what’s good for us and pls fill up the foreign space with him not with other foreigner I never loves a player like that since Chukwu retires don’t even take Maritzburg United foreigners but Fiston Kalala Mayele is the man,ten million buy out clause to us is a drop in the ocean, lastly guys let’s push for his signature ,even the tea ladies and groundsmen at Chloorkop must help us until Rhulani and Management takes our plea into consideration, Kby forever
I’m happy that Sundowns gave you recognition for your collective effort to .make Sundowns one of the greatest on the land.We r throwing all our weight & the support behind you.May God help you all the way to become one of the most successful tacticians of all time. But the biggest blemish was coming from your side Rulani thinking that Sundowns is your small possession and thinking that you can go alone &take all the credit and honor alone. You were very selfish and naive to go &talk about clashes of ideas regarding the presence of Mngqithi&Kompela, and they tolerated your forwarders while you were working together as co-coaches.But strangely now you r making them part of the problem rather than your solution. You still needs to be guided because you r still behaving like a teenager. To us it seems you sabotaged them for failure so that you must be the sole shining star.Work with them so that when Sundowns fails they rope in Kompela as a coach and you become their assistant, there is no way Sundowns is going to groom or recruit a coach from overseas or around the country when we have the 3 of you.We support you&we also need their presence around you,so when Sundowns employs u other people must lose their jobs? You easily forget that Pirates embarrassed you by loaning u to Chippa United &the same people accommodated u back at Sundowns and Mngqithi was pert of those people.I support you as a coach and I have a lot of hope and trust in you and theres a lot to achieve ahead. You want to give another excuse of inexperience like you did after the game against Wydad?I hope Sundowns didn’t give that satisfaction.Go on Rulani make a difference in this institution called Sundowns.
Congratulations to both Club and Couch, Let us all work together for this Club. But please my Coach be patient with Steve and Manqoba I do see your point that you want to have your technical team like Pitso. Please don’t ever undermine the experience of those 2 gentlemen and you still have to work harder to build your Profile as a senior Coach please learn from those 2 Gentlemen.Muzi I have watch Mayele is deadly in the box reminds me of Mambushi .Lets believe that Our scout team and Technical team are aware of him if they believe that He can fit in our system they will sign him.But my concern with him is 29 yrs already and is only right footed ,Comparing him with striker from Chippa who use both feet and is deadly on the air as well and is from our development is familiar with our system and South African culture, I will go with 21 years old cause scoring goals for our club is not a major problem even though mayele is good ,but you never know if he will settle in our team and right now we are not desperate
