Mamelodi Sundowns have clinched their eighth consecutive league title following their 3-0 victory over Chippa United on Wednesday night at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London.
It only took 11 minutes for the Brazilians to find the back of the net and it was IqraamRayners who did it. Inside the area, he was able to switch positions, drop his shoulder and with his right foot, struck the ball on to the top left corner of the net.
Nine minutes later, Lucas Ribeiro looked to double the score from a ball delivered to him by Rayners. After dropping his shoulder to shoot, his attempt was smacked away by the goalkeeper.
The Chili Boys almost levelled matters from the edge of the area but Mosa Lebusa’s challenge to clear the ball out of danger denied them a goal.
Two more times did Ribeiro attempt to find the back of the net, but on both occasions, the goalkeeper came out of his line to make important saves. Bafana Ba Style went to the interval leading with one goal.
The hosts looked livelier in the opening minutes of the second stanza and created a few chances, but couldn’t convert. A big chance from a corner kick, when it landed in front of the goal, Teboho Mokoena made a clearance with a strong kick.
The first big chance of the second half for Masandawana came through Ribeiro, but right in front of the goal, he fell, and the ball rolled to the goal line. The Chippa defence was quick to make sure it did not go over the line.
In the 69th minute, just a few minutes after his introduction, Arthur Sales doubled the advantage for his side. In what looked like a cross from him, his effort hit the woodwork and went inside to make it two for his side.
With both sides looking for goals, box-to-box football was witnessed at the Buffalo City Stadium. To conclude the proceedings, Sales pounced and slotted it in to make it three goals. He intercepted a pass made by the goalkeeper and tapped it in to help his side claim the inaugural Betway Premiership.

We won it in style and you have made us very proud indeed, for that we are eternally grateful.Since we started to play fast forward football we are scoring goals freely. If we can maintain the same quick football approach,it don’t see us struggling to win champions league.Word of advice b4 we play the final,if we can check at the most goals we scored in the past 3 games is because teams were trying to build from the back hence i always say,you can’t score goals when you are constantly playing at the back instead ,you are bound to concede goals,we can’t adopt European style when we have our own style of play. When you are leading 3-0 and we playing at the back i would understand we are managing the game but not when is 0-0. Congratulations to all the Yellow nation family, the monumental task starts on the 24th.
Copy what is good from European clubs and mix that with what we are good at and we will become world beaters.
Keep on breaking those records guys we are so proud of you.
